ティト・アルバラド氏は、南米エクアドル出身の医師で、現在はトルコに在住しています。医師になることは彼の長年の夢であり、高校時代からそのための勉強を始めていました。「10年前、高校生の頃、国際バカロレアの研究論文のテーマを乳がんにしようと決めました。調査を進める中で、KYLのことを知ったのです」と、ティト氏は「Know Your Lemons」との最初の出会いについて尋ねられた際、そう語りました。

「人々に知識を持ってもらいたい。そうすれば早期に診断され、私が当時も今も経験してきたような苦しみを味わわずに済むのだから。」

バルバドス出身のジェム・ボネットは、乳がん啓発月間に共有する画像を探していた約1年後、自身の診断を受けてから「Know Your Lemons Foundation」を発見しました。彼女は目を引き、意味のある情報を実際に共有できる画像や画像セットを探していました。しばらく検索した後、乳がんの12の症状をレモンの箱に描いたイラストを共有していた医療クリニックを見つけました。

That’s where the Know Your Lemons Foundation steps in; they are the only foundation doing innovative and equitable breast cancer awareness work in global breast health education and have an award-winning app designed to empower people to take charge of their health.

“Pinkwashing” is a term used to describe profits or services that turn pink as part of their sales promotions but contribute little or nothing to the cause through charitable giving and don’t participate in customer and employee education. As a charity dedicated to early detection for breast cancer we help companies contribute meaningful impact for breast cancer awareness.
